DIGITAL DOWNLOAD VERSION

How big is the video workshop?

It’s about 10GB in size (nearly 7 hours long in HD format). However, for easier downloading and viewing, it’s broken into 3 Parts, each 2 - 4GB in size.

How long will it take to download the workshop?

That depends on your computer, internet speed, and other factors. Each .zip file is 2 - 4GB in size, and the average internet speed in the U.S. is about 19MB/second. That translates to about 2 to 4 minutes to download each file. Depending on your computer and internet, it could be substantially longer. We tried it on some slower systems where it took up to an hour and had no difficulties.

How do I download the video workshop to my computer?

NOTE: We have tested the download on PCs and Apple computers in the US and abroad. We have downloaded and used the video using Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Safari, and Firefox browsers, all with no difficulty.

You should have received an email that looks something like this. Click the blue button.

Once you click the blue button a window should open up that looks something like this. There will be a link to this document and links to each of the 3 .zip files containing your video workshop. Click the link (indicated by the red arrow here) and download each .zip file to a safe place on your computer.

Open (unpack) the .zip files.

After opening each .zip file, you will have 3 folders titled “Cold Wax Workshop Part 1, 2 or 3”. These are the folders you will access to view the videos. When you open each folder you will get something that looks like this:

  • Launching the play.html file opens and runs the menu program for that Part.

  • The resources folder contains the images and information for the menu program. YOU SHOULD NOT OPEN OR ALTER THE CONTENTS OF THIS FOLDER.

  • The videos folder contains the actual video files in .mp4 format. You can view and naviagte each part by launching the play.html menu program -OR- you can open the video files individually from the videos folder using the media player of your choice. However, if you open them individually, you will not have menu navigation.

If you download using Safari, unless you change the default settings, Safari might automatically unpack (open) the .zip file at the end of the download and put the contents in a folder titled the same as the .zip folder. If you find this problematic, CLICK HERE for instructions on how to turn off the Auto-Unzip function.

What if my download gets interrupted?

Everyone using the internet has experienced this at some point. It is definitely frustrating. The .zip files are large. We have tested the downloads across multiple platforms, and they have performed well. However, we do not have any control over local internet providers, access, or network quality. Here are two online articles to help you resume an interrupted download: RESUME DOWNLOAD #1, RESUME DOWNLOAD #2. Please know that we understand your frustration when this happens. However, we are not IT specialists. Those kinds of issues are generally related to your internet service, your network, and your browser.

What if I have trouble opening the .zip file?

We have not experienced this in our testing. However, if you do, MediaZilla, the company that designed our menu program offers this information: HELP OPENING ZIP FILE

Why do I receive a file corruption error message when extracting the .zip file?

We did not experience this during any of our testing. However, if this occurs, some information from our menu program creators at MediaZilla:

There are typically two reasons that would cause this to occur, which can be avoided by following our instructions. Either the file didn’t download completely (common with the Chrome browser), or you are attempting to extract the zip file using Mac’s default extraction program, 'Archive Utility', which does not support files over 4 GB.

Try our recommended unzip program, ‘The Unarchiver’. On rare occasions, our recommended unzip program, 'The Unarchiver', is unable to unzip the files properly and throws an error. If this should occur, you can try using a different unzip utility that also supports files over 4 GB, such as BetterZip.

How do I use the menu?

Since the workshop is nearly 7 hours long, we divided it to allow for easier viewing. The menu allows you to navigate. To use the menu function, simply launch the play.html program for Part 1, 2, or 3 as described above. (NOTE: the menu runs on HTML, so will use your default browser program like Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc. However, you DO NOT need to be connected to the internet to use the menu program.) The menu will open up. The menu for each Part looks like this, and you can click to watch any of the Sections or view an individual lesson.

If you would like to view individual topics, click SELECT INDIVIDUAL LESSON on the main menu of that Part. This will open up the submenu, which looks like this. You can then view any specific lesson or topic you wish by clicking on the circle with the topic.

Can I watch the video non-stop from beginning to end?

No. Because it is nearly 7 hours long, we opted to divide it into 3 Parts, each of those Parts with several Sections. You can, however, watch each Part and move from Section to Section using the menu or even view a specific lesson that interests you.

How many times can I download my digital content?

You are permitted 3 total downloads of the video workshop. This is enough for three devices. If you ever change computers or have a computer crash, you should be able to move the video workshop to your new computer along with your other files or recover the workshop from whatever backup system you use (Cloud, Time Capsule, external hard drive, etc.). If you attempt to download more than 3 times, you will receive an error message from SkyPilot, our digital content provider.

What if I reach my download limit of 3 because of difficulties with downloading my content?

We understand this is frustrating, and we know you understand that we cannot permit unlimited downloading of copyrighted content. If you follow our instructions, and are patient trying to download, it is unlikely you will reach your limit of 3 downloads for ALL files. That would be at least 9 failed attempts at downloading. Depending on the individual situation, we can reset your download limit. Please reach out to us: info@squeegeepress.com

If you are trying to download multiple times to your phone or tablet without success, please make sure you read our information about downloading and watching on those devices. We do not have control over how manufacturers and operating systems allow for video and menu-driven content. OUR VIDEOS WERE DESIGNED FOR COMPUTER VIEWING. For watching on your phone or tablet, the most reliable way is to download to your computer and transfer those files from your computer to your device. If you are having difficulty downloading to your phone or tablet, we recommend you stop trying to do so and use the method we describe above. We are unable to repeatedly reset your download limit to accommodate downloads to your phone or tablet.

What if I have trouble downloading my video?

We do not anticipate any trouble. We tested the downloads several times on both PCs and Apple computers in the US and abroad. We tested on Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Firefox, and had no issues. If you do experience any difficulties, check your internet connection, reboot your computer, and try again. If you are still having trouble, please let us know, and we will try our best to assist you. However, we are not computer gurus. The issue could be your internet service, your internet provider, your computer, your browser, or something else.

How do I download the video workshop to my phone or tablet?

We discourage you from watching the videos only on your phone or smaller tablets. Because this workshop depends so heavily on the demonstrations and surface details, watching on smaller devices is robbing you of the richer experience you would see on your computer. Phones and tablets can serve as handy reminders in the studio.

If you have an iOS device (iPhone or iPad) you might be receiving an error message, CLICK HERE.

Depending on your brand (iPhone, Samsung, Google, Microsoft, etc.) and operating system (iOS, Android, Windows) getting the video content on your phone or tablet can be easy or more challenging. And depending on the device and operating system, you may or may not be able to use the menu function. You can try to download your content directly from the internet and test it. If this does not work, a simple and reliable method is to share/transfer just the actual video files from the VIDEOS folders described above to your phone or tablet. Simply watch them as you would any other video.

If you are having difficulty downloading to your phone or tablet, we recommend you stop trying to do so and use the method we describe above. We are unable to repeatedly reset your download limit to accommodate downloads to your phone or tablet.

I am having difficulty or cannot seem to use the menu function on my phone or tablet.

We know this is frustrating. However, remember that phones and tablets are not setup the same as computers. They have very different types of operating systems. Each device manufacturer and operating system developer has their own rules and limitations about what can and cannot be done. There is no universal program across all platforms that allows for menu-driven video viewing. A search of the internet may yield a ‘workaround’. However, we cannot assist with those kinds of technical issues.

Can I watch the video non-stop from beginning to end?

No. Because it is nearly 7 hours long, we opted to divide it into 3 Parts, each of those Parts with several Sections. You can, however, watch each Part and move from Section to Section using the menu or even view a specific lesson that interests you.

I thought there was closed captioning?

The file creation and menu function do not allow for turning off the captions. If you ordered the digital download and need a closed captioned version, please email us at info@squeegeepress.com and we will happily send you links to the closed captioned version. The closed caption version is being reformatted for easier viewing and should be available by April 20, 2019, if not sooner. The USB version will have both options available when it ships.

How can I skip to a particular demo or lesson on the video?

Simply click on SELECT INDIVIDUAL LESSON on the main menu page, and you will be taken to the sub-menu where you can choose an individual lesson by clicking the circle with the content that interests you. You can also scroll ahead or back while watching any portion of the video.

Can I show the video in the workshop I am teaching?

Squeegee Press owns the rights to the entire video workshop content. You MAY NOT show it for commercial or teaching purposes without our specific written permission. Please reach out to us if you would like to make arrangements for a viewing of a particular segment.

Can I show the video to my artist group or gallery?

Please reach out to us if this is something you are interested in. You must obtain written permission from us to do this.
